Finding Time to Write

By Marissa Mayfield

Having trouble finding time to write between school, work and other activities? Many writers have to write in between everyday life. Having a set time to spend writing is a good way to ensure writing time. Having a plan for when and where you write can make all the difference. But, when making a plan for the day isn’t possible writing in small amounts is just as productive as writing one thousand words a day and a much more achievable goal for writers with busy schedules. Use the time spent waiting in line at Starbucks or between classes to get as many words on the page as possible—all the small amounts add up! Lastly, limit distractions. Spend less time watching Netflix and scrolling through social media and more time writing. When it’s hard to find time to write it is very important that you spend as much time writing as possible. Remove distractions like your phone from your work space when writing so the distractions are gone! The most important thing to remember is that it is easier to find time to write when you are committed and have a structured organized process!
